Can Malaysia realize the electric vehicle while the government’s call to reduce carbon emissions by up to 40 percent by 2020? The answer, of course, be based on expertise in related fields.
This includes the tasks given to the government’s Green Technology Corporation Malaysia (MGTC) to review the implementation of the Electric Vehicle (EV) and related matters based on the latest technological developments.
Chief Operating Officer MGTC, Zairin Ismail Ahmad said the meeting was about to complete the survey conducted by the end of January.
“Following that, we hope the government will be willing to carry out a pilot program soon,” he said.
He said the plan is part of the initiatives under the National Automotive Policy Ministry of International Trade and Industry while the Ministry of Energy, Water and Communications Technology (KeTTHA) has been tasked to plan identity.
MGTC will be under the supervision of KeTTHA, and the agency’s Tenaga Nasional Bhd has been appointed. as the implementation consultant.
According to him, as soon as it completed the review of both the ministry will prepare a working paper for submission to the Prime Minister and Cabinet for consideration.
“The study should be taken as a manual to help authorities identify their role, implementation of policies and select the relevant protocol to include all industry participants,” he said.
Ahmad Zairin said, the agency is reviewing the implementation of EV infrastructure and how it should be supported by utility companies.
“If we have a comprehensive plan with the policies of industrial and automotive EV, it will make Malaysia an attractive market for EV car manufacturer,” he said.
