MUSCAT — Petroleum Development Oman (PDO)  is planning a major foray into renewables, chiefly solar power, as a source of energy for its oilfield operations. The move is part of a comprehensive effort by the company to address greenhouse gas emissions linked to its hydrocarbon-related activities, John Malcolm, Managing Director said. “In recent years, PDO has implemented a comprehensive programme to address our emissions. In our existing operations we are minimising our footprint by implementing energy efficient projects, by treating produced water at the surface using reed beds and by utilising solar photovoltaics in our remote operations.

Dublin, 11th February 2010: EcoSecurities, a leading company in the business of sourcing and developing emission reductions from greenhouse gas abatement projects, has recently achieved successful approval of its eleventh methodology from the Clean Development Mechanism Executive Board (CDM EB). Through a renewable energy technology known as co-firing, the methodology permits the substitution of coal with solid biomass fuels in grid-connected power plants, reducing CO2 emissions and helping companies to meet their renewable energy targets.

Deutsche Bank today announced the completion of a 250-kilowatt solar photovoltaic (PV) system at its Piscataway, NJ, office. The roof-mounted array will offset a portion of the facility’s electricity consumption and reduce its carbon emissions by 143 metric tons annually, equivalent to 16,232 gallons of gasoline.
