Regional Development Agency (RDA) One North East will be at this year’s major low carbon event to highlight the region as a leader in future economies.
It will showcase its Sunderland plant as the manufacturer for the Nissan Leaf electric vehicle (EV) at the Cenex National Low Carbon Vehicle event, which takes place at the Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedfordshire from September 15th-16th.
The RDA will also highlight to investors, businesses and people interested in a low carbon future, details of the construction of a lithium-ion battery plant, which will produce 60,000 units a year when it opens in 2012.
Colin Herron, the RDA’s manufacturing and productivity manager, commented: “This is the major national event for the low carbon vehicles industry, and a strong delegation from the north-east will be updating national and international partners on the progress we have made in the past 12 months.”
Other regional developments at the event will be the first fully electric version of the London black cab and the launch of the E-Warrior four wheel drive van and CUE-V urban EV by AVID Vehicles.
