A new energy-efficiency project will save 50,000 tonnes of carbon emissions each year, the equivalent of taking 100,000 cars off the roads.
The Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources has announced €9m in grants to 43 companies to reduce their energy bills
Eamon Ryan made the announcement earlier as part of the energy efficiency fund, which provides upgrades to buildings and facilities to improve efficiency.
The projects – to be completed by the end of this year – will create lifetime savings for the companies of more than €70m.
