The first ever Doha Carbon & Energy Forum will be inaugurated tonight by the events patron, HE the Deputy Premier and Energy Minister Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah.
The three-day forum will bring together experts from around the world to address some of the most important and challenging energy issues facing Qatar and the wider GCC region.
The forum is jointly organised by Qatar Petroleum, Qatar Foundation, and ExxonMobil.
Also speaking at the inauguration will be Dr Mohamed Fathy Saoud, president of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science & Community Development, and Mark Albers, senior vice-president, Exxon Mobil Corporation.
The inaugural ceremony will be attended by HE the Minister of State for Energy & Industry, Dr Mohamed Saleh al-Sada and HE the Secretary General of the General Secretariat for Development and Planning (GSDP), Dr. Ibrahim al-Ibrahim, Secretary General of the General Secretariat for Development and Planning (GSDP).
The forum will use the combined knowledge and experience of more than 150 international and national top experts to look at emerging technologies related to energy production, efficiency and carbon reduction, including carbon capture and storage (CCS).
Working with the Brookings Institution, the US.-based non-profit public policy organisation, which conducts high-quality independent research, three detailed papers have already been produced on the core themes of the Doha Carbon & Energy Forum.
