Global Carbon Dioxide Emissions Increasing at Alarming Rate


A report mentions than the US. In addition, global CO2 emissions have been accelerating at an alarming rate of 3.1% per year. Emissions from burning fossil fuels (base year 2000) to 8.38 gigatons of carbon (GtC) in the year 2006.

A mere of the global fossil-fuel-related carbon emissions and the United States has been the top emitter for more than a century. Chinas emissions have increased by more over 100% since 1990, where approximately 2 coal-fired plants are launched every week. These two are followed by Russia, India and Japan.
