It is reported that Jinan Iron & Steel Co Ltd has witnessed near CNY 0.2 billion benefit through reducing carbon dioxide emission of over 2.03 million tonnes by its CCPP CDM project.
As per report, CDM is an arrangement under the Kyoto Protocol allowing developed countries with a greenhouse gas reduction commitment to invest in projects that reduce emissions in developing countries as an alternative to more expensive emission reductions in their own countries.
As the first to carry out the CDM project in China metallurgical industry, Jigang’s CCPP CDM project is of largest CO2 emission-reducing volume in global metallurgical sector. The project will last to the deadline of 2012.
