on thirty-three interviews with experts in the field and it makes a strong case in favor of the voluntary carbon market as it has great potential for promoting developmental efforts in poor countries.
However, it does point to the fact that the carbon market is not perfect in that it might give businesses the excuse to not reduce their emissions and also there is a need to govern the quality of offsets being offered. Moreover, the market needs to be flexible enough to allow for innovation. Despite these drawbacks, the report states that firms should "stop being apologetic" about resorting to carbon offsetting schemes as they help fight the battle against climate change and also facilitate investments in projects that reduce carbon emissions in the developing regions of the world.
