May 26 (Bloomberg) — Google Inc., owner of the most popular Internet search engine, will buy carbon credits from a South Carolina landfill, Blue Source LLC, the developer of the pollution-cutting project, said today.
The landfill in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, is cutting pollution by burning methane gas from decomposing waste to generate electricity, Holladay, Utah-based Blue Source said in a statement on its website. The carbon credits, or offsets, can be used to meet voluntary emission reduction goals, the company said.
