Avantair Inc. is partnering with a carbon offset company to celebrate Earth Day.
Avantair (OTCBB: AAIR), a Clearwater firm that sells fractional ownership of planes, said in a release that it would offset five flight hours of carbon emissions for all new fractional share owners with TerraPass, an originator and retailer of carbon credits and carbon offsets.
Avantair said it already is the lowest carbon emitter in the aircraft industry because the Piaggio Avanti aircraft it utilizes is the most efficient of all fractional aircraft with a fuel burn of approximately 98 gallons per hour.
The purchase of Flight TerraPass offsets extends the companys efforts to minimize its carbon footprint and safeguard the environment, Matthew Doyle, Avantair senior executive vice president of sales and marketing, said in the release.
TerraPass, headquartered in San Francisco, works with developers of greenhouse gas reduction projects to bring to market verified carbon credits.
