Bill Clinton Appeals For Carbon Action

| Sourced From |

Bill Clinton has taken on Al Gore’s mission to combat climate change by writing an article in the Sun newspaper.

The charismatic former US president laid out the case for increasing energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions to avoid the catastrophic climate change that could hit food and water supplies, raise sea levels and increase the frequency and intensity of sever weather events.

Mr Clinton said that climate change is the biggest issue facing young people and that they can do something instead of just waiting for big organisations to find ways to reduce emissions.

He wrote: “While governments, universities and entrepreneurs continue to increase our ability to generate electricity using power from wind, sun, and biomass and other clean sources, and to develop cleaner fuels and electric vehicles, we can all do our part by encouraging our families, friends and communities to recycle our waste, turn off lights and appliances when not in use and replace old-fashioned light bulbs with compact, fluorescent and other energy-efficient light bulbs.”

Mr Clinton’s vice president Al Gore, went on to be awarded a Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to raise awareness of the issue of climate change, which he did in part by touring with his film An Inconvenient Truth
