Roxas City (20 April) — The Carbon Cutting Coalition (CCC) is a multi-sectoral initiative to find concrete solutions and implement programs to mitigate the worst impacts of global warming and climate change.
It was launched recently by President Gloria Macapagal – Arroyo as part of the week-long Earth Day celebrations from April 19 to 25 with the theme “Earth Survival: Climate Change Solutions.”
The coalition is composed of members of the 17 task groups under the Philippine Task Force on Climate Change (PTFCC) with each task force headed by a cabinet secretary. The President heads the task force with the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Global Warming and Climate Change (OPACC) as secretariat and implementing arm.
Presidential Adviser on Climate Change Heherson Alvarez said that the coalition was formed to find solutions to the pressing problem of global warming and climate change.
Alvarez added that he expects the coalition to snow to a “carbon-neutral society” after various environment NGOs, the academe, business, religious, and other sectors have signified their intention to join the coalition.
Philippines is highly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change being an archipelagic country
