CLEVELAND — A groundbreaking new initiative here in Cleveland is encouraging people and companies to reduce carbon emissions and help in the “green” movement.
The Cleveland Carbon Fund is a collaborative group that forms and implements carbon reducing projects for the community.
It is the first openly accessible and community-based fund committed to carbon reduction in the United States.
Founding partners of the fund include the City of Cleveland, Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland Museum of Natural History, The Cleveland Foundation, and The George Gund Foundation.
The group encourages Cleveland residents to contribute by reducing their own carbon emissions both at home and at work.
They are attempting to curb a portion of the 7.5 billion tons of carbon Americans emit each year.
