Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper denounced Liberal Party’s Green Shift plan as a ‘green shaft’ that will put brakes on the nation’s economic development because of the proposed carbon tax.
“It will drive up the price of everything - transportation, groceries, electricity, heating, even propane for our barbecues,” claimed Harper.
He further said that an election victory of Liberals would result in higher living expenses for fixed-income older population and also for low-income households.
Liberals argue that the tax costs will be balanced through cuts in business- and income-taxes that they will bring in. Harper’s party, on the other hand, is promising tax cuts, crime reduction and military strength.
