Ahmedabad : Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) member and IIM-A professor Priyadarshi Shukla will be travelling to Geneva
in July to attend an IPCC conference. On his air ticket, it is clearly mentioned that Shukla’s flight with Air India and British Airways will be responsible for letting off 2,661 kg of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere called carbon footprint that contributes towards global warming.

Kolkata: Tata Steel’s plant at Jamshedpur reduced the CO2 emission by 36 per cent in past 12 years, according to company sources. This was possible through adoption of several measures, which included, among others, installation of energy efficient equipment and processes, improving the by-product fuel recovery and usage and waste heat recovery.

In a yet-to-be released study, McKinsey & Co. says India is already on its way to becoming one of the world’s least carbon-intensive countries—despite the country’s 7.5 percent economic growth rate.
The study is the second climate accolade for the country this month. Last week, the World Bank—for the first time—supported India’s stance on international climate change.
