Preparing Industry for the Austrian Government Auction

Auctioning is becoming more and more relevant as a national allocation method within the EU ETS. Germany has announced it will be auctioning 40 million EUAs at the latest from 2010 on. The UK will auction its first volume mid November and Austria is planning to auction the 2008 EUAs early December.

So far, Climex conducted several EUA and CER auctions and is offering workshops on the EU ETS, trading and auctions to companies in several countries. If you are interested to participate in one of the workshops you can register at the Climex website: www.climex.com.

In Austria a workshop will be organised in cooperation with Lebensministerium and OEKV. As soon as the regulation for the auction has been decided upon, the date for the Workshop will be announced. The workshop’s objective is to prepare industries for the participation in upcoming auctions, with a focus on the Austrian auction.

During the workshop, participants will bid for 400,000 EUAs on the Climex demo platform. They have the chance to experience the auction format, learn about the process and procedures which will apply for the first Austrian auction, discuss strategies and learn from our experience and price expectations.

Climex offers several online workshops to interested parties, who will not have the chance to participate in one of the workshops. For this reason, Climex is setting up a demo version of the auctioning platform and is preparing an auction under the Austrian auctioning rules and regulations. Such demo auctions will be conducted every Thursday from 3pm to 4pm starting 13 November 2008. If you are interested in participating in an auctioning demo, please click here to register.
