MODERATOR: Good morning and thank you for being at this press conference. Here with us today is Juan Rafael Elvira Quesada, the Environment and Natural Resources Secretary; Yvo de Boer, the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC); and the Foreign Ministry’s Undersecretary for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights, Ambassador Juan Manuel Gómez Robledo. They are going to discuss the coordination between the Mexican federal government and the UN Secretariat for the organization of the Climate Change Summit that will be held in Cancun late this year. MEXICO CITY, Aug 4 (Reuters) – Mexico aims to put a detailed offer to cut the growth of its own greenhouse gas emissions on the negotiating table at global climate change talks in Copenhagen this year, a senior environmental policymaker said.

JIUTEPEC, Mexico — Mexico said Tuesday it is open to including a link to the existing carbon-credit market in the framework of a new global “green” financing fund that is gaining traction as a response to climate change.
The proposal for the new $10 billion fund could partly displace the largely private carbon-credit market, but officials suggested the credits could be used within the intergovernmental fund.
