Negev Forest Planted to Offset Airplane Carbon Emissions

With global air travel expected to reach 5.9 trillion passengers by 2015 and concerns for the environment at an all time high, EL AL, Israel’s largest international airline, has teamed up with JNF UK and KKL-JNF to encourage passengers to book on line and by doing so offset their carbon emissions when they fly.

Study: Aviation efficiency wont improve without CO2 standards

Commercial aircraft havent made any significant advancements in efficiency over the past two decades, and probably wont make meaningful future improvements without effective carbon dioxide emissions standards, according to the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT).

TaxiBot Prototype Tows Airliners, Saves Fuel and CO2 Emissions

Normally an airliner is pushed back from the gate with an airplane tug. Once the aircraft is cleared of any obstacles, the tug disconnects and the aircraft moves on its own power down the taxi way and takes off. When there are back ups on the taxi ways, airlines waste fuel and create additional pollution into the atmosphere.

Study on carbon dioxide emission of Indian airlines

Emissions trading is the smart way to reduce aviation carbon output

The Freight Transport Association (FTA) has urged politicians to put their full support behind the emissions trading scheme to meet tough European carbon emissions targets without doing irreparable damage to the UK economy. Following Wednesday’s announcement by European environment ministers to make aviation’s carbon emissions ten per cent lower by 2020 than they were in 2005, the leading trade body has warned that taking measures where the UK acts alone will achieve nothing for the environment whilst hurting the UK’s competitiveness.
