Supporting companies that generate alternative sources of electricity is a sound way of offsetting the amount of CO2 in our atmosphere. The energy generated in the US is distributed using a “grid” which distributes the electricity based on demand and availability. The more electricity that is supplied from alternative energy sources such as wind generation, methane digester’s, solar collectors, etc., the less electricity is needed from fossil-fueled plants using oil and natural gas.

Sunrise Solar is all set to become a carbon offset provider with the launch of its offset program for individuals and businesses. A web-based application is being developed through which consumers will be able to calculate their CO2 emissions and then purchase carbon offsets to mitigate the impact of those emissions on the environment. If the beta version of the application runs successfully, the company will introduce the full-fledged application later in the year.

Sunrise Solar to Sell Carbon Offsets

The Chairman and CEO of the company, Eddie Austin said:

“Purchasing carbon offsets is a way for consumers to make a significant contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, both locally and globally..”

Sunrise Solar is a Texas based alternative energy firm and the revenues earned through its carbon offset initiative will be used to subsidize the costs of providing solar technology and equipment. The objective is to promote the use of alternative energy among those who wouldn’t have been able to afford it at regular prices.
