| Sourced From |

GENERAL Motors Manufacturing has been elevated to Four-Star status within The Green Organisation, one of the UK’s leading environment groups.

Membership is restricted to companies, councils and communities that can demonstrate the effective measures they have introduced for environmental benefit.

The car company, which runs the Vauxhall Motors plant in Ellesmere Port, was awarded the distinction as a result of its increased activity and influence on the environment.

Mark Ford, of GMM, said: “We are delighted to have been promoted from Three-Star to Four-Star status on the strength of our continuing and increasing commitment to the environment.”

A spokesman for The Green Organisation said: “GMM has made a significant difference to the environment in their field of expertise and are actively adopting measures that will continue to improve their environmental performance for generations to come.

“They will be able to use our distinctive Green Apple logo on their literature, stationary and livery to identify themselves as a company that is trying to protect and enhance the environment.

“They will also have access to our library, receive our Eco Echo publication and be able to network with other companies that are doing their best for the environment.”
