Dolce Hotels signs up to Google initiative to reduce CO2 emissions

Dolce Hotels and Resorts, formerly Dolce International, has signed up to the Climate Savers Computing Initiative SM, a scheme launched by Google and Intel in 2007, which looks to reduce global CO2 emissions from the operation of computers by 54 million tons per year by 2010.

Aimed at Dolces internal operations, the Climate Savers Computing Initiative will help cast awareness on the issue of minimising energy consumption thereby reducing carbon dioxide emissions by improving the efficiency of power delivery to the companys computing infrastructure. One of the most immediate ways the Climate Savers Computing Initiative at Dolce will increase energy efficiency is by reducing energy usage when computers are in an inactive state by ensuring all computers are turned off after a certain hour.

Other immediate measures that Dolce will implement as part of its sustainability efforts include a procurement policy that will see only ENERGY STAR qualified computers, printers and servers purchased, the configuration of all computers at Dolce corporate offices and individual properties to
