The coolest carbon nutral – actually carbon negative – products are trees! You can get your own for just a buck a piece and help replant the rainforests throught the Nature Conservancy. There is already too much CO2 in the atmosphere – we need to LOWER levels now. If I win, that is where my $50 will go

Thank s for sharing Chris. Trees are important and the rainforests really must become a priority for us. We agree.
As we are moving towards becoming a sustainable culture everyday products will need to be designed with a cradle-to-cradle life cycle in mind and I think the idea of our contest is to try to honor and celebrate companies who are taking strides in those directions.

I think airline offsets are a great idea, for two reasons :
(1) There are no green substitutes available for long distance travel and although one should minimize air travel as far as possible, sometimes when you gotta fly, you gotta fly!
(2) Aircrafts spew out a nasty amount of greenhouse emissions and airline offsets are a great way to neutralize those.
There are many airlines offering offset options such as Continental (http://www.continental.com/web/en-us/content/company/profile/offset.aspx), Delta, SAS etc.
