Helijet International, the first private sector partner with British Columbia’s Pacific Carbon Trust, has completed its first round of carbon offset purchases by retiring 900 tonnes of CO2e.
Helijet paid $22,500 to Pacific Carbon Trust covering all scheduled flights operated between March 2009 and July 31, 2009. All flights from August 1, 2009 to present will be included in the next settlement, with plans to settle monthly starting in 2010. That means all Helijet passengers flying between Vancouver, Victoria and Richmond have had their flight’s greenhouse gas emissions offset, making their trips carbon neutral. To date, Helijet’s contribution to Pacific Carbon Trust has had no impact on fares and ticket prices have remained unaffected.
