The Global Carbon Capture and Storage Institute, set up by former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, has given $5 million to a project in Canada.
The money will go to TransAlta Corporation, which operates one of Canada’s leading CCS projects, Project Pioneer, in the state of Alberta
In keeping with the remit of the CCS Institute, the money will go towards the dissemination of research and results from Project Pioneer and allow TransAlta to access research being done by international members of the institute.
The funding announcement was made today at the first National Carbon Capture and Storage Conference underway in Melbourne this week.
Almost 300 delegates from around the world have gathered to hear about the latest on developments of CCS and discuss projects that are underway in Australia, Canada, Japan, China and elsewhere.
