Australian Miners Plan Anti Carbon Trade Ads, Australian Says

| Sourced From |

Sept. 25 (Bloomberg) — Australian coalminers will pay for a multi-million dollar advertising campaign criticizing the country’s planned carbon emissions trading framework, the Australian newspaper reported.

The advertisements have been designed by Neil Lawrence, creator of Prime Minister Kevin Rudd’s “Kevin 07” election campaign, the newspaper reported.

The campaign will focus on job losses that could result from the carbon-reduction plan, the newspaper said, citing an interview with Ralph Hillman, executive director of the Australian Coal Association that commissioned the work.

The industry hasn’t given the advertisements the final go- ahead, the Australian quoted Hillman as saying.
